Reverse-Cycle Air Conditioning Maintenance Protocols

by Olivia Morris

Reverse-cycle air conditioning units conduct both cooling and warming functions. The system is robust but requires proper care to ensure its longevity. Hence, you must keep the system in excellent condition to avoid huge repair expenditures. This piece discusses various practices that can help prevent the failure of a reverse-cycle air conditioning unit.

Cleaning

A reverse-cycle air conditioner becomes less efficient when debris, dust and dirt accumulate in the unit. Your electricity bill increases significantly since the air conditioner must work hard to overcome the hindrances to airflow caused by dirt, dust and debris. Some items such as pollen, dust and dirt are also harmful to your health; hence, it is essential to remove them constantly.

You need to shut off the reverse-cycle air conditioner as you clean it. Some essential areas you must clean include the filters, grilles and the space surrounding the unit. You can use a vacuum cleaner for some of these tasks or leave them to professional cleaners if you have a busy schedule. Prompt cleaning prevents downtime and eventual damage to the reverse-cycle air conditioning.

Setting the temperature properly

A reverse-cycle air conditioning unit is essential during cold and warm weather. However, you must set the temperature within a reasonable range instead of lowering or raising it to extremes. For example, setting the temperature as low as possible does not cool the room fast. Similarly, the room warming rate does not increase when you put in the highest temperatures.

Proper temperature setting helps prevent wear and tear of the reverse-cycle air conditioner. The conditioner does not overwork to attain excessive temperatures. Hence, you will rarely experience failures before the scheduled maintenance date. This habit is also essential in preventing energy wastage by your air conditioning unit.

Replacing worn-out parts

Reverse-cycle air conditioning machines are sophisticated systems requiring regular professional maintenance to ensure optimal performance. If the system has damaged items such as ducts, coils or filters, the technician replaces them immediately. Prompt replacement of vital components ensures that the problems do not cause the failure of other elements in the system.

Traditionally, people check for issues in their systems before winter or summer, depending on their dedication. However, a reverse-cycle air conditioner is helpful throughout both seasons. The best approach is to follow a maintenance schedule. Alternatively, watch out for signs such as water leaks, unusual noises, insufficient airflow and foul odours.

Some habits that prevent a reverse-cycle air conditioning unit from failing include cleaning, properly setting the temperature and replacing worn-out parts.

Replacing Sensors on Your HVAC System

Welcome to my blog which covers a wide range of HVAC topics. I'm Josh and I live in Perth, Australia. I never really used to think about the HVAC system in my home. I believed that when it was hot the HVAC system would cool me down and when it was cold it would warm my house up. However, all that changed one day when the HVAC system went crazy. It began to blow hot air into my house on the warmest day of the year. The contractor I called out said that one of the sensors had broken. He explained how I could better maintain my HVAC system so I decided to start this blog.
